Holiday Gift Guide: Your Glam Older Sister Who Prefers Dress-up To Sporting Events And Considers Cats The Ultimate Accessory

holiday gift guide for your older sisterThis holiday I’ve decided to do gift guides based on myself and two sisters. We’re three individuals, but it’s likely we’d borrow all the items on each others gift guides 😉

  1. Amelia Sunnies in Tortoise, because she’s all about the cat eye.
  2. The Princess and the Beads Dress, because it will make her feel like she’s in The Great Gatsby.
  3. Faux Fur Infinity Scarf, because she’s pro animals but also pro looking like them.
  4. Dooney & Bourke ‘Mini’ Satchel, because she needs a new signature tote.
  5. Put It on Paws Ring Holder, because it would look perfect on her dressing table.
  6. Magic Beanie, because there’s always more than meets the eye.

Three Favorite Etsy Shops

Here are a few more suggestions for your upcoming holiday shopping, keeping the handmade theme in mind:
floral headpiece etsy shoot
pale pink large oversize rose headband from kisforkani

kisforkani is a beautiful shop with SO many floral headpieces in every color you can imagine. Definitely worth supporting this online shop and saving yourself the trouble of assembling one yourself.

etsy succulents
115 succulent plants from thesucculentgarden

TheSucculentGarden has an amazing variety of succulents for use as centerpieces, in terrariums, and home decor. They even sell cuttings so you can save some money and propagate the plants yourself.

etsy bookplates
cookery bookplates from alicecantrell

AliceCantrell is the creator of simple paper goods including notecards, bookplates and stationary. I love the illustrations and throwback to when people wrote everything with pen and ink instead of typing and texting all the time.

What are your favorite Etsy shops?? I have quite a list of them saved, maybe I’ll do more features in the future!

The Coolest Vintage Pieces Online Right Now

My final favorite for the week are five vintage pieces from Wasteland. Gone are the days where I was happy to spend hours rifling through old thrift shops. Now I prefer to look at them online, pre-sorted, and smell-free.

The Most Gorgeous Jewelry for Your Fall Wardrobe

Next up on my favorite things of the week are the gorgeous jewels of Alexis Bittar. I first discovered his designs several years ago when I was working at a fine jewelry store. At the time a lot of the designs were lucite, which usually is right up my alley, but I just wasn’t feeling it. The past year or two he seems to be doing a lot of pieces with stones and crystals, and I am loving them. Here are my current five favorites:

These Might Be My Favorite Jackets for Fall 2013

Everyone’s been feeling a bit under the weather in my house lately, meaning few outings and photo opportunities. Since I’ve been spending more time than usual on my laptop in bed, I thought I’d share my favorite new findings this week. First up are five coats from Emerson Fry. They’re all so sleek and are sure to outwear a lot of other items in your closet. I could certainly use one of each!

The Definitive Guide to the Little Black Dress

Happy end of Fashion Week! Around this time each September every fashion blogger and style site recap their favorite trends from the runway. I love looking at photos but the thought of trying to pull together sensical categories out of thousands of images sounds exhausting. Instead I thought I’d share my favorite looks for the little black dress. LBDs are forever timeless, however I think they’re especially appropriate going into fall when we naturally wear darker and more purposeful ensembles. I tried to pull together a variety, however seeing as I’d wear every one of these, I probably missed some styles that aren’t to my taste. What’s your favorite little black dress??
